Who will be the next Labour Party leader?

2019 was a decisive year for Labour, one they lost in a landslide to the Conservatives during the General Election. Due to this, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn announced that he would step down as the Labour Party leader. This has caused the party to go into a leadership debate, so who is up for the role of becoming the next Labour Party leader? Jeremy Corbyn was only made the party leader in 2015, after the resignation of Ed Milliband, which itself was a divisive leadership battle. This time round, there are far more women running for the job of top dog in the Labour Party- four to one to be exact. Sir Keir Starmer Sir Keir Starmer in 2012. Image...
Why does Trump call Elizabeth Warren ‘Pocahontas’?

Why does Trump call Elizabeth Warren ‘Pocahontas’?

A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through some political forums. Whilst going through one specific forum, I found Trump referring to Elizabeth Warren as 'Pocahontas'. Personally, I thought that Warren had settled it, after releasing a DNA test, proving she was not of native ancestry. Elizabeth Warren is famously the presidential nominee who wants to get the rich to pay more through a wealth tax, a policy many have ridiculed. So, this begs the question, why doesn't Trump simply refer to Elizabeth Warren as a "Commie" or something 'derogatory' name? Elizabeth Warren spent almost two decades referring to herself as 'Native American'. Her claims were based on those of her grandfathers- who claimed that he had "High cheek bones like all the Indians." Elizabeth Warren has used this on her...

Why do politicians always focus on education and healthcare?

If you've watched an election happen in a developed country in the past 10 years, you have probably noticed one thing "Education and healthcare!" No matter where you are in the world, the debate always boils down, in some form or another to education and healthcare, but why? Many people when watching a political debate see issues such as immigration, taxation and infrastructure as one of the most important issues in our society. Yet, when these issues are brought up in debate, politicians turn the debate towards either education or healthcare. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); This is often because the people plagued with bad education, or bad healthcare are in the most desperate situations. This means that when someone stands up on national TV and talks...

Why Jeremy Corbyn really lost the General Election

The General Election was a resounding Labour loss and Conservative win. It was by far the worse loss Labour has ever seen. Many people put the loss down to the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, and his lack of sincerity and connection to the people. But there is one major reason why Jeremy Corbyn lost the General Election: people love his policies, on paper, but struggle to see how he'd implement them if he was elected. It's not that people dislike Jeremy Corbyn's policies, rather it's the opposite, they love them. But most people believe that they are too good to be true, and that he won't actually put them into place if he was made prime minister. Is Catalonia independent in 2019? Catalan Independence explained…

Catalonia is a very divisive region. In Catalonia, they will claim that Catalonia is independent from Spain. But in the rest of the world, they will claim that Catalan Independence is nothing but a joke. Yet, according to the Catalan independence referendum of 2017, Catalonia is indeed independent. And thus, Catalan independence should be honored. This then begs the question- Is Catalonia really independent? (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Brief History of Catalonia The reason for Catalan independence, lies in the history of Catalonia. Catalonia was the first part of Hispania, to be settled by the Romans. This is when most major cities in Catalonia were founded (although some were founded under the Phoneticians). After the Roman Empire fell, t...

What is lobbying? Is it good for our political system?

Every election cycle, you have likely heard one recurring theme, no matter which country you are in: lobbying. This is often used many times by media outlets and political parties to show how corrupt another party/candidate is. But what really is lobbying and is it entirely bad for our political system? Lobbying is defined as: The act of a corporation or person donating to political candidates in order to gain favor if that candidate is elected. It is usually expected that the candidate that has seen a donation, will repay that firm for their contribution. This doesn't necessarily have to be from their own pocket, or campaign finance fund the next time round. But in the form of legislation, through our political system. Legislation can often be more valuable to corporations tha...
Why do politicians always lie?

Why do politicians always lie?

When it comes up to an election, a common trope is that you can't trust politicians. Why? Because politicians always lie to us. But is that strictly true, or is there more behind the saying? Whilst some politicians do lie deliberately (think Watergate, Clinton-Lewinsky etc.) most politicians don't lie deliberately, it's merely that their policy hasn't got enough bipartisan support to push it through the legal body of a given country. Most of the "lying" we see politicians doing is rather unintentional. Rather than it being a deliberate lie in order to get people's vote, it is merely a policy idea that doesn't have the popularity to get through the legal body. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); What are the general reasons for politicians lying accide...

China is ramping up for 2020, can America contain them?

China is the greatest threat to American superiority since the USSR. China is currently ramping up its military, media abroad and offshore investments. Naturally, this is worrying the US, as they are now seeing an increasingly powerful China, challenge them for global supremacy. How exactly is China ramping up? Before we can answer the main question, we have to talk about how China is ramping up. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Military China's military is ramping up by increasing it's manpower, weapons and drills. China is forcasted to stay the world's largest military with over 2.20 million active military personnel. China is also currently investing heavily in newer, larger and more powerful weaponry. Who will win the 2019 General election in the UK?

A while ago, we did an article on whether there would be a 2019 general election in the UK. We wrote that article due to the dis-contempt among the British people over Brexit... yes again. Why are the British people dis-contempt with Brexit? This has been covered in our previous articles, regarding Brexit, but also the wider internet as a whole. But it boils down to one key reason: Brexit was a lie from the get-go. And when this lie was found out, many people who voted leave, chose to publicly renounce Brexit as a sham. Over the past three years, we have seen three different prime ministers, all of whom have failed to get a Brexit deal in place. Now both Labour and the Conservatives have called for a general election, something that has been granted. (adsbygoogl...
