When you think of celebrities, you often think of those who are quite liberal. However, there are a few celebrity conservatives who support the Republicans and other conservative parties!
For those in Hollywood, many have found themselves “blacklisted”, while some have flourished for it. Others have used their conservative views to become celebrities in their own right!
15. Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey Grammer is known for being one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors, having acted in countless TV shows, movies and even on Broadway a couple of times!
Originally starring in theaters and on Broadway, Grammer soon moved on to acting in TV shows. After a long carrier on TV, Grammer began acting in blockbuster movies.
Kelsey Grammer has been a lifelong Republican, having been registered to the party since before his career took off. He has supported both Mitt Romney in 2012 and Donald Trump inn 2016 and 2020.
Grammer has made headlines in recent years for his support of gay rights and gay conservatives. He has also made headlines when he made statements supporting the controversial Tea Party Movement.
14. Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is most famous for being one of the few female celebrity conservatives. She is also quite well known for marrying former NFL quarterback, Tim Hasselbeck.
Since 2003, she has been at the forefront of political media. In 2003, she was the conservative side of the American TV show, The View, boosting their ratings incredibly after joining the show.
In 2013, she left The View, and joined Rupert Murdoch’s Fox and Friends show. Here, she would cover the vast majority of American media for the next two years, before retiring in 2015.
Despite Hasselbeck’s parents were famously liberals, Hasselbeck is a staunch Republican, having been registered for most of her adult life. Hasselbeck is married to Tim Hasselbeck, another conservative sportsman.
13. Rupert Murdoch
When it comes to conservative media, Rupert Murdoch owns just about all of it. It’s not surprising that Rupert Murdoch himself identifies as a conservative as well, even despite his initial disagreements with Trump.
Rupert Murdoch is the owner and CEO of NewsCorp, the largest print news media company on the planet. News Corps is the owner of a variety of print and TV publications, including the Wall Street Journal and Fox News.
Since the beginning of Murdoch’s career, he had often had his news stations and newspapers support conservative candidates. The only major time when Murdoch hasn’t done this is with Mitt Romney in 2012, although he still supported the Republicans.
During both the 2016 and 2020 presidential races, Murdoch has supported Donald Trump for president. Many left-leaning news outlets have talked about Trump’s favorable coverage on shows such as Fox & Friends, all coming from Murdoch.
12. Kurt Russell
Kurt Russell is well known for having one of the longest contracts in American TV history. He is also known for being Hollywood’s favorite celebrity conservative, one who has flourished because of it.
Russell originally starred in music videos, including one done by the famed Elvis Presley. Soon after that, he began acting in TV shows and a few years later began acting in blockbuster movies.
As a child, both of Russell’s parents were conservative, teaching him to be conservative too. Naturally, he had some liberal tendencies, but was for the most-part a conservative.
Today, Russell identifies as a libertarian, claiming that there is little difference between the Democrats and Republicans. Although, Russell has very conservative stances on many things, including gun rights.
11. James Woods
James Woods was at one point one of Hollywood’s greatest actors. Today, he is often seen as being one of Hollywood’s most controversial figures, after using inappropriately using Twitter several times.
Originally starring theaters all over the US, Woods soon began to be offered roles in TV shows, which he soon took. After almost a decade in TV, he was offered his first role on the big screen.
Woods claims that he was a Democrat until Bill Clinton was impeached. But the support for Bill Clinton who perjured himself was too much, and has since become a registered Republican.
Since 2018, Woods claims he has been blacklisted by Hollywood producers for his outspoken conservative views. He claims that more needs to be done in order to make Hollywood more bipartisan.
10. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the few celebrity conservatives that almost everyone admires, regardless of politics. He is one of the few celebrities to have had a career in three different areas of entertainment.
Originally, Dwayne was a very gifted American football player. This earned him scholarships to several major universities, where he chose the University of Miami. However, a series of injuries forced him to retire.
Following this, Dwayne became a WWE wrestler, using the stage name “The Rock”. At the same time, Dwayne started acting, having been in movies such as Fast & Furious, Central Intelligence and Jumanji, among others.
For much of his career, Johnson has been a registered Republican, voting for them in several elections. However, he has also been quite close with former presidents Obama and Clinton, both Democrats.
9. Peyton Manning
For most sportsmen and professional athletes, they tend to keep their political views out of the public eye. However, Peyton Manning is happy to tell everyone that he supports the Republican Party.
Peyton Manning was one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, playing for 18 seasons! He is most famous for playing 14 of those seasons with the Tennessee Colts, where he became a legend.
After his fourteenth season, he joined the Denver Broncos, where he too became a legend, despite being quite old. Following his retirement, Manning has also gained media attention for his golf.
Manning is one of the few professional athletes to be a registered Republican. He has gained media attention for donating $8,000 to various Republicans. During the 2016 election, he worked on Jeb Bush’s campaign.
8. Jon Voight
Jon Voight is one of Hollywood’s most decorated stars, with a career spanning six decades. However, few actually realize that he is one of only a few celebrity conservatives who still act in movies.
Since the 1960’s, Voight has worked in several TV shows, before eventually moving on to acting in films. Jon Voight is also quite famous for being the father of famous actress Angelina Jolie as well.
During his youth, Voight was incredibly liberal, protesting things such as the Vietnam War and the US supporting openly right-leaning democracies. Voight has since said he regrets this.
During the 2012 election, Voight supported Mitt Romney. During both the 2016 and 2020 elections, Voight has supported Donald Trump. In 2019, Voight called Donald Trump the best US president since Abraham Lincoln.
7. Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler has been Hollywood’s premier *young* conservative star for the best part of three decades. Not only is he famous being one of the few remaining celebrity conservatives, but he is also well known for his comedy…
Originally, Adam Sandler was an actor, starring in movies like the Grown Ups franchise. Since then, he has also become a director and screenwriter. He has also become one of the best conservative comedians of recent times.
Sandler is Jewish, being one of Hollywood’s most outspoken supporters of Israel. Sandler has also been a registered Republican for several decade, often being seen as Hollywood’s “conservative actor” should they need it.
Sandler has supported most Republican candidates since registering for the party. In 2008, Sandler supported Rudy Giuliani for the presidency over Democrat Al Gore, although Al Gore later won it.
6. Jim Davidson
Jim Davidson isn’t very well known outside of the UK. However, to many in the UK, he is perhaps one of the most famous celebrity conservatives, being one of the best conservative comedians around!
For almost 50 years, Jim Davidson has been at the forefront of conservative comedy. During the reign of the various Labour Governments, he has often ridiculed their inability to effectively rule the UK.
Jim Davidson has supported almost all of Britain’s right-leaning parties in the past. Most famously, he has supported the Conservatives, although has supported both UKIP and the Brexit Party.
5. Clint Eastwood
Clint Eastwood is perhaps best known for being a world famous actor and director, starring in hundreds of blockbuster movies. However, he is also well known for being one of the few Republican directors still in Hollywood.
Originally, Eastwood was one of Hollywood’s most famous stars. After many years, Eastwood began to direct his own films, many of which feature him as either a main or recurring character.
For the longest time, Eastwood was a registered Republican, voting for them in most elections. However, he has since become a registered Democrat and recently a registered Libertarian.
In 2012, Eastwood supported Mitt Romney for president. In 2016, Eastwood was notoriously silent about his support for president. He has been one of President Trump’s biggest critics in recent years, citing his overuse of Twitter as one reason.
Due in part to his staunch conservatism, Jim Davidson has often been the subject of ridicule by left-leaning newspapers in the UK. He has often left the UK in protest of the Labour Government, having done so several times.
4. Sir Alan Sugar
Donald Trump is well known for having been the host of The Apprentice in the US, as well as the President. In the UK, we also have The Apprentice, although Donald Trump doesn’t host it- Sir Alan Sugar does.
At the age of 21, Alan Sugar founded Amstrad, a consumer electronics company, before selling it when he was 60. Alan Sugar used much of the money he’d earned to start up and buy other businesses.
In July 2009, Alan Sugar was made a life peer for his services to technology. His peerage was as Lord Sugar, Baron of Clapton. He soon sat in the House of Lords for the Labour Party, a left-leaning political party.
Surprisingly, in 2015, four days after the 2015 General Election, Alan Sugar left the Labour Party, citing its support of socialist and communist policies as main reason. He has since supported Boris Johnson and the Conservatives on several occasions.
3. Big Boi
The vast majority of singers, especially those who are rapper, have strong liberal views. However, Big Boi, otherwise known as Antwan André Patton is one of the few celebrity conservative rappers.
Big Boi is perhaps best known for being one half of the rapping duo Outkast. However, he has also produced several of his own songs, many of which have reached the top of rap music charts.
Despite often being labelled as a conservative by the press, Big Boi himself prefers to identify as a libertarian. Although, the press has noted much of this has been right-leaning libertarianism.
Big Boi is also not a big fan of Donald Trump, due to his perceived support of so-called “racist” policies. During both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, Big Boi endorsed Bernie Sanders for president.
2. Peter Thiel
Peter Thiel is perhaps one of the least well known celebrity conservatives in the world. For those who do know him, he is well known his stake in the finance and analytics industries.
He is perhaps best known for founding PayPal, alongside the now-infamous Elon Musk. However, he has also started up a series of financial firms, including a hedge fund and a Venture Capital firm.
In 2003, Peter Thiel started up big data analytics company, Palantir technologies. Much of this technology has been used by defense agencies all across the world, including those in the US.
Peter Thiel has been a life-long Republican, although prefers the label “conservatarian“. Thiel has also been one of President Trump’s most outspoken supporters, donating several million to his campaigns in 2016 and 2020.
1. Chuck Norris
Chuck Norris is perhaps the most famous martial arts actors in history, rivaled only by Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. However, he is also one of the most famous celebrity conservatives and Republicans.
Norris originally joined the USAF, where he was stationed in South Korea. It was here, where he learned how to fight. After leaving the USAF, he started his own dojo, which soon led to other opportunities.
Whilst promoting his dojo, he was asked to film fight scenes in a movie. From here, he began starring in other movies, eventually becoming one of the most famous martial arts actors in history!
Norris has frequently supported the Republican Party throughout the past 40 years, having been a registered Republican for just as long. He has spend a lot of time supporting Israel and their government’s right to exist.
